A Glimpse Inside The Secrets Of Large Wood Burner

A Large Wood Burner May Release Harmful Particulates Into the Air

Wood burners are great to heat rooms, but new research suggests they release harmful pollutants into the air. The tiny particles, PM2.5, have been linked with heart and lung issues, as well as dementia.

This Ecodesign stove, which is DEFRA-approved, is a sleek and contemporary 5kW unit that can heat rooms quickly with minimal lag time. The large flame view and airwash system also help this stove look good in any room.

The Blithfield

The Blithfield is a DEFRA-approved, EcoDesign-ready wood burner which perfectly blends modern and traditional styles. It has stunning visuals of fire thanks to its large porthole-like windows that are maintained clean with an airwash system and is made to be used for burning logs and for cooking as it comes complete with a warming shelf as well as a fiddle rail. And it's nicely customisable with the handles and controls coming in a choice of chrome or brass and in a selection of six different colours to suit your home.

All Clock stoves come with their unique 'clockwork' control which makes them among the most controlled in terms of flame/heat output available. This means that they're also carefully engineered to meet the emission level of 2022 requirements of Ecodesign the UK-backed EU regulation designed to improve our air quality.

This is achieved by bringing in pre-heated secondary heat from the bottom of stove and regulating the burning rate using a separate air control. This allows for ultra-low emission. This stove is one of the most efficient large stoves that are available. It comes with an DEFRA approved and Smoke Control Area exemption firebox, and can burn wood up to 20% moist.

Stovax has taken the classic design of their Sheraton wood burning stove and incorporated it with a state-of-the-art high-efficiency and low emission combustion system to create a log burner that is a perfect fit in an array of traditional and contemporary settings. The stunning bevelled frame and the cornicing of the stove contribute to its aesthetics and the sophisticated design of the firebox allows for an efficient and clean burning. This makes it SIA Ecodesign compatible and suitable for smoke-control zones.

The Sheraton is available in two versions one of which is a log-store model that can be fitted flush into a fireplace breast with a chambered, and a standard-leg model that can be fitted into an inglenook. Both models are rated at a nominal output of 5kW, and provide excellent fire viewing via the large glass panel. They're available in a choice of finishes, including the matt black shown in the picture.  second hand wood burning stoves  can be customised by adding a variety of additional features like brass or stainless steel handles and direct air kit. The Huntingdon

A large wood stove is a great addition to any home. It's also a great heating option, especially if it is well-engineered and has a good seasonal efficiency. New log burners must meet strict standards for health and environmental protection that include limiting the emission of smoke up to 5g carbon monoxide every hour. To minimize the impact on your home, opt for the stove that has large flame pictures with a large window, as well as an airwash system that ensures the glass is clear.

The Huntingdon from Stovax is a huge, traditional stove that meets the specifications. The multifuel and wood-burning stoves both DEFRA exempt and come with a high heat output. They also have an extensive viewing area to enjoy stunning views of the flame and the multifuel model comes with a unique riddling grates that can be closed the time you need to burn logs. Both models come with the choice of a transparent door or an engraved door to give a more Gothic look which makes them suitable for any room from rustic cottages to modern townhouses.

They are extremely efficient in energy use and have an A+ efficiency rating, which means that your fuel will be used effectively. The Huntingdon has a second air-control that allows you to set your fireplace to a continuous state of operation, reducing fuel costs, and lowering emissions.

The wood-burning versions of the Huntingdon come with a choice of either a plain or chancery arched door for added customisability, while the multi-fuel version is purchased with an external riddling kit to simplify cleaning and maintenance. Both versions are available in the option of a graphite or black finishes, making them easy to match to your existing decor.

All Ecodesign stoves emit only 5g of CO2 per hour, making them substantially safer than older models. This is a hugely significant improvement, considering that older stoves can produce more than 20g of CO2 each hour, which is damaging to your health and increase the risk of respiratory problems.

The Chilli Penguin Defrost

This 4.7kW stove can be used to defrost windows after an excursion in winter or to cook an evening meal for the entire family. This Ecodesign and DEFRA exempt Stovax product features a revolutionary clean-burn system that incorporates three distinct features that contribute to its remarkable efficiency. Combining secondary heat retention glazing, combustion jets, and air flow diverts help to keep the internal temperature high which results in a more complete burning of the gasses that fuel the engine. This in turn produces lower harmful emissions and reduces particulates that are emitted into the air.

The result is a highly efficient stove that also benefits from a stunningly large glass window that lets you see the fire from inside. There are a variety of colored handles and a curved chrome pedestal to suit your interiors. The top loading stove comes with a large flat surface for placing pans and kettles.

The Pengiun, like all Stovax stoves has passed all the necessary tests and inspections. It is only suitable to burn wood and smokeless fuels that have been approved by DEFRA. If you burn unauthorised fuels, you could be fined up to PS1,000 per hour for the amount of particulates released into atmosphere.

This is accomplished with a new clean burning system that has been upgraded to include a new air supply which is introduced into the combustion chamber via channels and jets above the fire. The pre-heated air is used to ignite the volatile gases that are produced by the fuel which results in a better burn and a reduction in harmful emissions. It also creates a cushion of air that is directed towards the glass, referred to as an  air wash, to provide you with an unobstructed view of the flames.

The combination of these systems means that the new Penguin is in compliance with the most stringent emission limits and is classified as an 'Ecodesign' stove. It emits less than 20 mg/m3 when it burns wood and 16 mg/m3 when burning smokeless fuels.

The Go Eco

Research has revealed that older-style wood-burning stoves release tiny sooty particles in the air. They are the main cause of poor air quality which has been associated with lung and heart issues, dementia and breathing problems. However, modern models have been made to higher standards and are DEFRA approved, which means that you can still enjoy the soothing effects of a log fire in your home.

The Go Eco large wood burner is a large version of the company's well-loved standard stove and is also DEFRA exempt and SIA Ecodesign ready, meaning it is already compliant with European restrictions on emissions which will take effect in 2022. It features a large glass to enjoy the flames and an airwash system that keeps it clean. It comes with an energy efficiency of 80% and 5kW of heat output. The larger model means it can be installed in larger chimney openings and can be used for a variety of installation options.

As its name suggests, this is the perfect large wood burner for those who love to glamp, but is equally suitable for any home installation. This dual fuel stove is fully equipped to heat water, cook and then burn logs. It's a clearSkies stove that is level five, which means it produces 90% less pollutant than an open flame and 80percent less than a 10-year-old stove.

The GO ECO is a DEFRA-approved multi-fuel stove with an 80% efficiency rating and 5kW of heat output. It's also a level five clearSkies stove. This means it will work perfectly in areas with smoke control and can be used with any kind of wood, including softwood and kiln-dried timber. It's easy to use and comes with a range of different installation options like the bench, a pedestal or wall mount. It comes with the porthole window, which is cleaned by the airwashing system. It is also suitable for camping.
